This photograph was stuck to the shattered glass of a frame which had been dislodged by water sheeting down from a leaking roof. As a precaution, the image was scanned with the glass in place before we soaked the image in warm water. After a day or so the image finally came away, and we scanned it again. The mould blooms had enlarged considerably in the water, and needed extra retouching to remove. The background was airbrushed anew and the discoloured areas around the adhesion points equalised with the undamaged areas.
