This image was a badly damaged dye sublimation print from the 1990s. The surface laminate of these prints often bubbles and cracks over time. As a first measure to reduce the appearance of the lines, the image was scanned twice, in two different orientations. These images were then layered together, and the highlights of one reduced or eliminated the shadows on the other. After that the image was digitally retouched, mostly using the spot healing tool, to remove the large cracks. Some areas, including the curtain in the background, were airbrushed to restore an even tone. Finally the image was colour corrected.
