This job was for a wall-sized enlargement for a pizza restaurant on the central coast. The only surviving version of the image was a photocopy, which presented a few challenges – photocopies are composed of fine lines of solid black toner, which become fully visible when enlarged. To remove these, the image was run through an FFT algorithm. It was then retouched, and a film grain filter applied for a believable, grainy look. Finally a warm sepia tone was applied.
